Little Kristy

I couldn't resist posting this picture of my buddy, Kristy. She loves to curl up on our sofa pillows and grabs any chance she can to take a snooze.  At 15 years plus, she's getting old,but still looks like a young cat, with her big ears and little body.
I've been a bit out of the loop lately, so haven't been posting that often. But I hope to get back on track soon! I should have ATCs to show in the next few days!

Recent Projects

Last week I sent off some handmade gifts for my two great nephews. For the baby, Shane, I had a biscuit quilt which I had completed a year or two ago. Nice and puffy!
For Shane and his big brother, Kyle, I made pillows, using some fabric I've had for many years - teddy bears playing baseball! I cut windows in the fabric and inserted white fabric with their names appliqued in red! Hopefully they are just the right size for little boys!!!

More Fused Flowers!

Here I am again, with another fused bouquet! These flowers were hand cut from polished cotton backed with Wonder Under. The crisp fabric was a joy to cut.
Right now I'm working on a fabric "house portrait", but this time it's a picture of a school. A lady in New York asked me to make it for a teacher who is retiring. I'll share a photo of the finished picture when it is finished.

I recently realized that I'm not that far away from writing my 100th post!! I think I'll have a give-away in honor of it, and this time I'll have something handmade for the winner!
Stay tuned!

April ATC Swap

My April ATC theme was nature. I used sheer overlaid fabrics for the grass and sky and found some great nubby thread/yarn for the border and tree. Fun to make!

April ATC Swap

Janice and I finished up our April ATCs and here are the results.
Janice was inspired by the start of the baseball season and decided to honor our beloved Red Sox! We Bostonians are fiercely loyal to our Sox!!
I'm not that savvy with photography, but I can see that Janice has a ticket and the Red Sox logo, overlaid with a piece of printed acetate. It's wonderful in person!! Hope this photo does it justice, Janice!!!

Celebrating Mom

I'm remembering happy times with my Mom, and wishing all the wonderful moms who read this a very happy Mothers Day! Raising children is the most important job in the world, and we all deserve a special day! Here's to us!!!
Love you, Mom.

Flowers for Mom

My mother was a wonderful woman and a dear friend. This will be a sad first Mother's Day without her. After she died last summer, while we were cleaning out her home, I came across a box of cards I had made for her for various occasions over the years. This Mother's Day card was among them.
My mom never wanted a fuss made over her, and on this particular year she insisted that we should not send flowers. So, instead, I made this card for her with this verse inside:

You said, "Don't send me flowers!"
So what were we to do?
We couldn't picture Mother's Day
Without blossoms for you.
So here's a little bouquet
With flowers that won't grow old,
Sent with all the loving thoughts
A little card can hold.

She loved it, and every year after that, we insisted upon a real bouquet for her.
Miss you, Mom.
