A bit of a Break

It has been a beautiful weekend here in New England and we've been enjoying sunshine and warmer weather. I've decided to take a bit of time off from  blogging, but I'll be back with new work at the beginning of April.
See you then!

Hope everyone is enjoying these first days of Spring!

A Lovely Visit

Since my last post, I've been to Toronto for a few days with my husband to visit our daughter Kate. Lovely visit, less than lovely weather!! Heavy wind and rain, and more of the same when we returned to Boston!

While in Toronto we visited the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario), a fantastic museum, where we enjoyed the paintings, sculpture, contemporary installations, and a wonderful collection of Canadian native art. Being something of a  people-watcher, I also got a kick out of the little children in their brightly colored outfits, looking so adorable as they tagged along after their parents. I made some hasty sketches in my notebook and today I plan to translate them into fabric pictures.

By the way, if you've read my blog recently you know that I experimented with a textured background. Unfortunately some people had trouble reading the text, which I understood when I viewed it on someone else's monitor. So, I am back to basics, which is just fine.

Still raining here, but I'm staying in today, drinking tea and working with fabric. What could be better?

Hope you are having a great start to your week as you read this. Despite the bad weather here, Spring is on its way - I just know it!!

Have a terrific day!!

Sunny Thoughts

"Sunny days
sweeping the clouds away
on my way to where the air is sweet...
Can you tell me how to get,
how to get to Sesame Street?"

Funny how, nearly thirty years after my daughter was a little one, the songs from Sesame Street still reverberate within me - this one on a sunny day, and the Rainy Day song in wet weather! I used to find myself humming them on my way to my part-time job!

We have been having some very lovely sunny days here in New England, and everyone is enjoying the milder weather! I pulled out this older paper cutting to celebrate the hope of Spring which is working its way into my bones! Great things are on the horizon!!!

Blog Changes

I keep changing the header on my blog, and today I learned how to change the background. Do you like it? I've been wanting a linen-look background, but I'm not sure whether this is too dark - I've since found a lighter color!. In any case, it took me quite a while to set this up, so I'll keep it for a while - at least until I want to lighten up for Spring and Summer!
I'm thinking about starting an etsy shop this summer, and trying to figure out what to create for sale. In the 80's, I belonged to a wonderful craft co-op in southern Massachusetts and sold little matted and framed fabric pictures like these:

These are actually scanned color copies of pieces that sold, but give you an idea of the type of thing I did back then - lots of commercial fabrics, appliqued and satin stitched. Since then my style has changed a bit,
but I'm hoping I can come up with some nice pieces to sell. By that time I hope to have a solid look for my blog, but for now it's fun to play with different options!
