Bits and Pieces

Yesterday morning I sat at my sunny dining room table and prepared materials for some Artist Trading Cards I'll soon be making. Ah, the feel of paper and scissors, colors and  textures - so simple and yet so satisfying! I'll post the results soon.

I've been in a bit of a creative funk lately - winter, bitter cold right now, less sunlight - er... laziness, perhaps? In any case, I do want my blog to be active and up to date, so I may be posting some less than stellar offerings - just to stay in the loop!
For one thing, I got together with a friend recently and did some needle felting! We used as a reference a book called Little Felted Animals by Marie-Noelle Horvath and attempted to make Jack Russell Terriers. Here are our results, created with much laughter and a bit of finger stabbing with barbed needles!! Lots of fun!

Our weather here in New England has been pretty erratic this past week. Monday we had a most beautiful, warm and lovely day. Spring jacket weather! Tuesday brought a fairly heavy snowfall which frosted trees and bushes, creating a Christmas card sort of winter wonderland.

This was quickly followed by some milder weather, melting nearly all the snow. This is the same view out of my dining room window.

Right now we're back to frigid temperatures and the coming week promises to be our coldest yet this winter. It is said that Mark Twain once remarked "If you don't like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes." Judging from this past week, I'd say that's pretty accurate!

And finally, a couple of shots of my little friends -

Angus, looking rather indignant with crossed "arms", on the back of a chair,

And Rosie, as always, in the middle of anything I'm reading or doing!!

Here's wishing everyone who reads this a very good weekend!

Hi Judy,
Oh, those little Jack Russell Terriers are adorable! They made me smile! We've had much of the same weather here in Maine. Though we had some mild temperatures and melting when the freezing temperatures returned it preserved the remaining snow so it still looks like winter!
Have a great weekend!

Your little felted animals turned out very well! And how nice that you had an "art date" with a friend. Always good stuff.

That is some look on Angus's face isn't it? Cats can really tell us what they are thinking:)

Stay warm and dry this upcoming week:)

The little doggies are wonderful! Such characters! I feel how Angus looks at the moment. It has been snowing all day and it is so dark and gloomy! I wish we lived nearer Judy and I could be on your needle felting team!!! x

Your Jack Russells are adorable! Fantastic job. This isn't the easiest time of year, is it. Sounds like we have similarly erratic weather. We're lucky to have some sun today so I'm super motivated to catch up on everything I let slack over the past week (blogs, art). That picture of Angus is priceless. Stay warm and motivated! xx

I have felt the same since the holidays , no energy. We've had fog and below freezing temps here the last few days. Cute felt project for you first attempt.

your world is beautiful with snow

your beauty is still sure:)

Great post, Judy. Bits and pieces are sometimes perfect because that's what life is made up of.

Those little Jack Russells are so cute, but not as cute as Angus and Rosie!

Hope you're managing to shake the funk!

Just catching up. Your kitties are such characters. Next week when Jerome comes he'll be bringing Mya to stay at the farm. Except for a visit to the vet, she hasn't been out of the city house since we adopted her. We're having some work done on the city house before we put it on the market and we think Mya will be happier and safer here. Jerome will miss her dreadfully, but we're eager to see how the girls do together at the farm.
My sewing table has been buried in piles of disorder and I've not gotten to any work. Been busy having company and traveling. Now I have a string of quiet days ahead and will get down to business. I think your wooly woofers are adorable. And I'm eager to see your ATCs.
Been dreadfully cold here but the chickens seem fine. We've gotten 17 eggs in the past 12 days and LadyHawk is once again laying! Not bad for the darkest coldest days of the year.
Sending warm thoughts.
