Today was a very hot day - high 90's - and my house was noisy with workmen and plasterers. After a while, I felt like I needed to escape, so I took my sketch pad and headed to the library. It was cool and quiet there, and I tucked myself into a study carrel with my Pigma pens and began to draw. I felt myself going into a state of total absorption, totally unaware of what was going on around me, and I drew for nearly two hours.
I'm working on some drawings to use for line embroidery, and I feel like I got off to a good start today. It was such a good feeling to work without distraction. I'll definitely be going back.
Hope you've had a creative day, too!
These have a wonderful Matisse/Judy feel to them!:) Just enough line and detail to make them lovely and simple.
ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy those library cubicles so much when I went to college. They were great for zoning out in:)
I saw Matisse as well, Judy. But these definitely have your signature. What a brilliant idea to head to the library to cool off and get into our sketching zone. I too have been thinking more about embroidery. These are some fine preambles to that comfortable old art form. Can't wait to see where this leads.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! They look great already, I can't wait to see your embroidered versions.
ReplyDeleteStay inspired!
Hello Judy,
ReplyDeleteYour sketches are very good indeed
and so ais your embroidery art. I like the simple lines of them as if you did them in "a single jet" without hesitation (if you see what I mean ?)
Thank you very much for visiting my blog and for your compliments. They are very appreciated.
Great sketches but the little cat has to be my most favourite of all! Such a cute shape!!! x
