This is the first in a series of fabric pictures I'm working on, using the fabric I hand painted a few weeks ago. This floral is fused, machine appliqued and stitched, and hand beaded.
I love the colors that can be obtained from Setacolor transparent fabric paint. In this piece, I loosely painted flowers and leaves on white cotton, heat set the fabric, then cut out blossoms and arranged them in the painted vase.
Maybe I was inspired by thoughts of the colorful flowers that will soon be blooming in our gardens!
Judy, that is so exquisite... the colors are beautiful, the feeling of spring is there.

Judy, very pretty! I've been wondering about that hand painted fabric! Do you applique through all three layers, or just onto your top? If you applique through just your top, how do you keep the fabric from being pulled down through the throat plate every once in a while? Thanks, KarenLR
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty, and very painterly! and the handbeading really puts the icing on the cake, so to speak!
ReplyDeleteThese flowers are LOVELY!!!!! And beautifully made too. I appreciate your comment on my dolls this evening too. You're doing wonderful work! Pat
ReplyDeleteWow, this turned out so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your kind comments!
ReplyDeleteI loved getting absorbed in making this piece.
Karen, this is, and always has been, my applique technique: I fuse a thin piece of craft batting to the back of my foundation piece and build on that. I know my fabric art will never be washed, and it stabilizes it for machine applique. It's just my way of doing it.
I love your use of colours and details.
