I've been working on a small embroidery, in an effort to create some type of art every day. I started out with a sketch, transferred it to muslin with a light box, then embroidered it with brown thread. I have more to do, but this is where I am so far.
I like hand stitching, but I know I'll soon be experimenting with drawing
with machine stitching. I have a few ideas!
And, on recent sunny day, I braved the cold on our unheated porch and
did some fabric painting -
on smooth cotton fabric,
cotton gauze,
and on cheesecloth!
These will come in handy for some future landscapes.
Very cold here in Massachusetts! Hope you are nice and warm
wherever you may be while you read this.

Looking good! Your faces are always so simple and elegant:)
Certainly not as cold here and in fact, warming up to 60 degrees+! CA is a little nuts:)
Really nice, Judy.
Your stitches certainly bring that lovely face to life. Do you stabilize the muslin so the stitches lie so smoothly??
Your work always helps me to get a move on with my own. Your color palette is my favorite combination in nature.
Beautiful. I can't wait to see what you do with the variety of hand-dyed fibers.
Is that your daughter's face in embroidery? Lovely!
Love what you're working on Judy. I'm amazed by how you create such expression with so few stitches!
Lovely embroidery! I think the fabric paints bring out the texture of the fabrics. The cheesecloth one looks especially interesting. x
Wonderful, Judy. Love that little embroidery. I wish I loved hand stitching, but I always prick my fingers and then there's blood and either it gets on my fabric or I have to wait till I stop bleeding before continuing. Ah well. I'm very happy to enjoy seeing yours. :)
