Ready for Their Close-Ups!

Like so many people, I'm bustling around preparing for Christmas. But I thought I'd
take a moment to share close-up photos of some of the pictures I did
for a recent exhibit.

Fused fabric, French knots, favorite colors of mine...

More fused fabrics and hand embroidery!

These pictures are very small - most are about 5 inches wide.
I was looking for a way to allow them to stand up on a shelf, without
using an easel, so I decided to experiment with some of the clear plastic
frameless frames I had around the house.
I made the picture, mounted on black felt, a bit larger than the frame,
then stitched a second piece of felt to the back, leaving the bottom unstitched.
It formed a pocket to slip over the whole frame, leaving only the
plastic stand showing!

Here are a few in a little grouping on my kitchen counter!
Just a little pop of color!

Thanks for visiting!
Hope you are enjoying the season and are not too stressed!

Smiles...

AEDM-Day 6-WIP

This work-in-progress has been hiding in my "in progress" drawer for quite awhile. It was part of a challenge I was part of and represents a tiny corner of a Georgia O'Keeffe painting.

I'm going to finish the beading and add either a mat and frame, or a border.

Also painted more fabric today and enjoyed that - a continuation of what I was doing yesterday. The next step will be to use the hand painted fabrics in a landscape or still life. Art Every Day Month is helping to make me conscious of art, every day and I'm happy about that.

Sunshine Days

What beautiful weather we've been having! Cool, sunny, breezy - to me, perfect!!
It inspired me to felt and embellish this little piece, using beads and trims and some of the wool roving I've been collecting. Fun to do and I feel inspired to do more of this in the future.

Hope everyone has enjoyed a lovely Labor Day weekend!
Warmly,
Judy

Work in Progress

I've been working on this new piece, a combination of applique and machine embroidery. The violets are cut from handpainted fabric, as well as some of the leaves. The underlying leaves are outlined with stitches and 'painted' with watercolor colored pencils.
I have more details to add. Hope to have it finished by Friday!

Very wet and soggy here!!
Looking forward to seeing sun again before the end of June!!

Have a great week!

Early Evening

Today I finished this small fabric applique entitled 'Early Evening". I hand appliqued some silky printed sheers I've had for years, and hand beaded and embroidered the flowers. The matted size is 8"x 10".
It was nice to get back to fabric after a fairly long stint of working with cut paper lately.
Today was a beautiful day here in Massachusetts and I was so happy to see the first signs of buds on the trees! Leaves will be bursting out soon and they will be a welcome sight after a long winter!
