I finished this piece today, an applique landscape, using all hand painted fabrics. Instead of my usual zig-zag stitch around each element, I used heavyweight brown top stitch thread in a straight stitch as an outline. There is also a bit of hand embroidery in the flowers among the rocks in the lower portion.
This piece was a pleasure to make. I love trees, beautiful skies and landscapes in general, and it was fun to use fabrics I had painted myself!

Really beautiful. I'm sure your landscape is just as lovely to touch.
Oooooohh...Judy, this is spectacular! Really very beautiful.
Did you do free motion stitching? Or just really careful, patient manipulation with your presser foot?
Your fabrics are perfect.

Wow, this is such an inviting landscape. I want to just step into it. When I first saw it, it looked like a whole cloth painted landscape and then when I was reading you said you appliqued it. Beautiful.
Hello Judy!
This piece is absolutely amazing my friend! :o) Your work is just beautiful! You are a true inspiration, an incredible artist.

Ladies,
Thank you very much for such nice comments!
Karen, I just stitch carefully with the presser foot set at less than 'normal'. (iI have an older Singer). Terri, I did cut up my painted fabric and fused it into a scene.
Thank you all very much.
Oh Judy, that is so wonderful...I love the texture of the sewing and the ethereal soft effect and colors of your painted fabric...what a treasure.
OMG! Judy, this is beautiful! sorry I have not been keeping up with your blog...I have missed so much! and you really have captured the essence of Kate in a previously posted work...you are just too good!!! love, j

Nan, I appreciate this comment very much, since you are an artist whose paintings I truly admire.
Thank you both.

You do such wonderful, peaceful looking pieces. This is lovely.
This is really beautiful. I love landscapes and also do them.
Hi Judy. this is gorgeous! It's so sweet and peaceful, as well as technically lovely!
I really like this. I keep promising myself that I will make a small art quilt and I keep procrastinating. Guess I should just jump in with both feet and give it a try. Thanks for sharing...Kathy
Hello, I recently purchased piece of your fabric art from an estate sale in Windpoint, WI. I believe the owners commissioned a fabric replica of their home on Lake Michigan. The owner of the home name is stitched into the art. I’d like to gift it back to you. Do you want it?
