I have some samples of decorator lace, and decided to use them to make some birds for my windows. I thought it would be pretty to be able to see the lace pattern against the outside foliage.
After drawing a simple bird design, I used some heavy duty interfacing to provide a sturdy outline.
I have a few details to work out, but I think they will be sweet for my porch windows, and for gifts.
Mostly fusing, and very little sewing!

These lace birds are pretty. Perfect for gifts.
Wow those are gorgeous! Did you use purchased binding around all the edges? These would make wonderful gifts for weddings, Christmas, new babies...just about anytime!...or to look beautiful in your own windows.
A pretty bird, Judy. Have a wonderful week. :o)
These birds are lovely!!! And I just saw your new pet, Frisky, how cute!!!!
Thank you for the lovely comments!
Quiltcat, the white outline is cut from heavy interfacing, then fused onto the lace, front and back. I then trimmed the excess lace away from the outer edges. This stiff outline was necessary to keep it from being too floppy. Now I'm thinking - maybe a heavy paper outline would work as well...
These are beautiful!
I love them!
