Really??

I found this under the windshield wiper on my car a couple of months ago,
with an ad for a cleaning service:

I saved the paper to use on my blog, but all I could think was,

"Are you kidding??'

I mean, a clean house is a nice thing to have. As we know from TV, hoarding is pretty undesirable and clutter is something we all have to deal with. But I can think of so many other things that are signs of a good life - a loving family, dear friends, work we care about...

Here are a few quotes on the subject that make more sense to me:

"Housework is what a woman does that nobody notices unless she hasn't done it."
Evan Esar

"At worst, a house unkept cannot be so distressing as a life unlived."
Rose Macauly

"My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance."  ~Erma Bombeck

By the way, I'm wearing my apron in this photo because I'm making dinner, not cleaning!

I don't know about that! I do feel better about things when the house is clean and in order-that I do know:) Thank goodness though that it isn't the only thing that makes me happy:):):)

PS-Love the apron!

Hi Judy,
Oh, this brings to mind one of my all time favorite quotes:

"Home should be clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy."

My favorite saying about cleaning is this:
Cleaning the house while the kids are growing is a lot like shoveling while it's still snowing.
You look very cute in your apron, Judy.

Thanks, ladies! Glad to know I'm not the only one with opinions about cleaning! BTW, my apron was handmade - I got it at a quilt auction!

Ha! Maybe if someone else is doing the cleaning for you. But really, don't we all have more activities that would constitute "good life" than cleaning the house?

Such great quotes. All of them are so true.

Oh, and you remind me that I keep thinking about making some aprons. They're fun to wear no matter what you're doing. They're great for painting, too.

To be honest, I still struggle to find a balance between tidiness (because I do love a clean house) and messiness (because it gets that way so quickly!).

It's a dilema that chases me through life!

And I love the picture of you in your apron. You are so cute, Judy!

I would love to have a clean house all the time but think there is something a little bit troubling about a house that is too 'perfect'!x

Clean house? Nah! Others in this house do that - not my forte - I'm a lucky gal.
I LOVE the fact that you wear an apron to cook in. I do too and always have.

I actually just too a short break from cleaning and sat at the computer to connect with my blogging friends. How fun to have found your blog with this posting, in this moment.
So glad to have found you.
