What I've been Up To...

 Hello again!
Although I haven't posted here for a few days,
I have been working on faces!
This is Randall...

Since he is Felice's best friend, I put them together in my sketchbook.

Julie was originally done as a line drawing,
but I added color for another day's drawing.

And Enid, whom I had originally drawn with her hair in curlers,
now is shown in the morning with her curly hairdo!

Both images are side by side in my book.

And young Mary...

is placed beside her older sister Margie.
Hope they get along with each other!

Finally Marian, done as a pencil sketch,
rounded off my week.

I've come to look forward to making a face, a person.
a bit of a story each day.
I wonder what I'll attempt when this 100 day project
is finished!

Maybe some stitching?
We'll see!

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend!

Meghan

Today I worked on a sketch of a girl which I had begun yesterday.

Meghan

She loves her new kitten
and cuddles it like a baby.
It is her first pet and she wants it to feel
loved and protected!

This is the sketch I made yesterday, and I changed the cat's head and
modified the lines of the girl's shoulders and hair.
I love to have a day to reflect on a sketch before completing it,
as mistakes are more obvious the second day.
And I'm loving the softness achieved by using Prismacolor pencils
and a touch here and there of Micron pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Amelia

Amelia

She is strong and opinionated and she rubs
many people the wrong way.
She has had to learn, after years of repression,
 how to express her feelings,
but her words come out harsh and unfiltered.
Time will teach her to speak confidently,
conveying her ideas with strength and certainty
without needless hostility.

Jake

Some characters are more likable than others -
that's the way people are.
But we never know what's beneath the surface
when we first see someone's face.

Jake

Jake has a chip on his shoulder, a big chip.
and his surly attitude turns most people off.
He grew up in a bad neighborhood and has lost
several friends to drugs and crime and,
much as he tries, he can't seem to free himself
from the ghosts of his past.
He expects the worst and doesn't trust people.
Recently he has been placed in a mentor program -
if only he can open his heart,
and trust -
if only....

Daily Sketch - Angie!!

My nephew's wife Angie is celebrating a special birthday,
so I made this sketch for her!
She loves owls, as I do...

and all of nature!
She is one of the nicest people I know and a wonderful
companion for my nephew Dave.
Lucky guy!!

Daily Sketch - Angus and Rosie

My two little guys, always wary around each other.

We can never figure out if they are friends or enemies!

Hope you've had a great weekend!!

Betty

Just a little sketch today!

This is Betty.
She remembers with great fondness her great-grandmother's home
and tries to recreate the same feeling in her own surroundings.
She shops at vintage stores and flea markets
for glasswear and linens and aprons and knick-nacks.
Her house is cheery, bright and homey,
with a place for everything and everything in its place.
She loves to hang laundry on a clothesline and smell
the sunshine on her sheets at night.
She bakes for her husband and children
and neighbors, and enjoys every aspect of being a homemaker.
Betty is truly an old-fashioned girl
and she would make her great-grandmother proud.
She knows that what she does isn't for everyone,
but she is happy being who she is.

Cast of Characters - Gina

GINA

Gina is a single mom who lives on
one side of a two family home with her
little girls, Carly and Angie.
On the other side live her mother and dad.
She works two jobs to keep her girls
happy with the toys and clothes they love,
and while she works, her mom babysits.
Gina knows that she is lucky, despite the
disappointment of a loser husband who
walked out on her and his beautiful girls.

Every Sunday, she looks forward to dinner
at her mom's lace-covered dining room table,
with her girls, her brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews.
She loves the nearly ceremonial meal of pasta and gravy,
and the laughter, warmth and security
of family.

Gina dances and plays with her girls.
They love having their nails painted and
trying on mom's jewelry.
One day she will find a new love,
but for now her life is full
and she feels blessed.

AEDM Day 16

A wee sketch for today...

Hope your day has been a good one!
